Habitat for Humanity El Salvador facilitates the process for families with limited resources to access economical and suitable homes.
The housing deficit in El Salvador is more than 360,000 homes. Many families have no home at all and others live in inadequate housing or in shelters made of corrugated metal and discarded wood. This housing crisis is the result of poverty, the high density and growth of the population, and problems with the ownership of land as well as natural disasters such as earthquakes, tropical storms, and volcanic eruptions.
With this feeling we promote that different sectors support the families with limited resources in the construction of their homes.
Credits are granted with manageable fees and installments so that families can choose between the different housing solutions that the organization offers.
To help these low-income families, Habitat for Humanity El Salvador offers lines of credit for three types of housing solutions:
The families that benefit build and repair their own homes alongside national and international volunteers from different organizations.
The families are selected according to certain requirements, giving priority to need and the promise to work according to the methodology of Habitat. This process is done without favoritism or discrimination.
